So exciting and now it is time to celebrate being done and celebrate everyone that is graduating. It has started to hit me that people are graduating and not coming back in the fall unless its to visit which is so weird. Part of me wishes that I was graduating and finding a job but a big part of me is not ready to graduate. I love the college life of going to class for part of the day, working just so that I have money to go out and do social things, and tailgate in the fall on the weekends. What a life!!!
So this weekend is going to be a little crazy. Last night I went out with my friends from class. It was lots of fun. I see this people more than I see my roommates soom weeks. So we went on an unofficial mini bar crawl. The rest of the weekend is going to be spent seeing some of my best friends from college before they leave for their new destination, seeing old friends that are in town, going to UNI to see friends from Camp Adventure, and hanging out with my family for mother's day which is one of my all time favorite things to do.
A great year that flew by way too fast has now come to an end. Its time to say bye to blogging about how stressed I was over school that I will laugh at 10 years from now and all the drama that I have dealt with living 5 girls in one apartment.

its been awhile

So its been a long time since I have wrote about what is going on. its that time of year where everything seems to happen at once and you don't know how you are going to get everything done. but in the end you somehow do. Last week I had 4 assignments, 1 lab report and a final to handle with some unexpected hurdles along the way. On thursday I had an email saying that one of the three classes I need to graduate wasn't going to be offered next fall. They always offer this class which I might add is the hardest chemistry class to most chem majors. I was so upset by it because I didn't want to stay an extra semester. In my mind I am done in December and wasn't ready to face the fact that something out of my control would keep me here an extra semester. Fortunately by the next day they found a teacher and I am able to graduate next december!!!!!!
I can't believe that people are graduating. This blows my mind I feel like freshman and sophmore year were just yesterday and junior year was last night. My friend from a different school graduated. She said it was so weird and sad to graduate and be done with school. She is currently working on finding a job and is living her life by the moment because who knows when she will find something.
Last night my friends and I were talking about graduation because two of them are done in may. They were talking about how hard it is to pack up everything and leave iowa city knowing you aren't coming back in a week from a break. It hit me then how much i am going to miss it even though i have another semester to accomplish before i really get emotional.
countdown till summer....4

new addiction

So I have a new TV show addiction. The new show "What About Brian." The oldest brother from seventh heaven is the main character on the show. I have seen it twice and I like it. I haven't figured out all the connections that the people have on the shows. There are about 10 people that are important characters on the show. Its good drama that is a little more believable then the OC has become.
In the past I have been addicted to the OC but lately I have been kinda disappointed with it. They are stretching it a little too far for me.

Today I had two tests back to back this morning. It was not a way to start a monday but I managed to survive. So to treat myself I went shopping before work. It was great therapy but a dangerous habit. I had a coupon for $10 off but still managed to do some serious damage. Oh well it helped me relieve some stress!!!

great easter weekend

After all the mess that happened in Iowa City it was nice to go home and relax and be able to forget about school for the weekend. My two best friends from high school were home for the weekend and I was able to see them. Both of my friends families are in process of moving so I was excited to be able to see them. Of course my mom, sister, and I went shopping as we do most times I come home. Although this time I bought a suit to be able to wear in the real world someday. Most of the time I spent with my family running errands and catching up on stuff. Saturday night I went over to my Grandma's house for an early Easter. We had a great meal which was a common theme of the weekend eating eating and more eating. I enjoy hanging out with my family more and more. The weekend went way to fast and now its back to reality which greeted me with an impossible test on monday night.

tornadoe

I am still utter shock that Iowa City was hit by a tornadoe. Its something that you always hear about specially since we are in Tornadoe Alley and now in season but its something that you never wish upon. I was extremely lucky in the fact that I was in Currier working on a homework assignment when the bad weather hit. There is something about gut instinct that is truely amazing. I had decided to go to currier instead of going to the library that night. Good decision. I was also in a safe place that was a mere three or four blocks away from the destruction of the tornadoe. I could see on TV how big the cell was and knew that the weather was intense when i saw the size of the hail that was coming down. I went and looked at the destruction after the weather had past. All though authority figures told us to go home one couldn't help but stare in awe of what happened to the town that everyone loves. Where people bleed black and gold and live out their dream of being a Hawkeye. I walked around the downtown area staring at everything and calling people to make sure that they were okay. Someone was watching over us b/c with all the damage done one person outside of Iowa City was hurt.
My family is from Des Moines and my sister goes to Iowa State and they had no idea about it. My parents tuned into the news after I called to tell them that i wasnt freaking out about the thunderstorms. One of my fears is thunderstorms which comes from my childhood. My sister had no idea till i called her at 1145 to tell her that i was okay.
The next day I went around and surveyed the damage in the day and to take pictures of the event that no one thinks will ever happen to them. I was still in shock this time it wasn't as scary to see the damage but it was more gutwrenching to see how people's lives were affected by this. I made the journey over to jefferson street where lots of the damage was done. It looked like something straight out of a movie but worse. It was powerful to see the damage of the tornadoe they claim to be a F2. I can't imagine what a town would look like after a larger tornadoe had gone through it. Thank god for the community of Iowa city for all the help that people brought to the people who needed it most.

still want to be a kid

Friday at work had to be one of the cutest experiences that I have had. The school that I work at Wickham Elementary had pajama day. So a good majority of the kids wore their pajamas to school. This happened to be one of the few days that I did not wear sweatpants to work aka my pajamas. The older kids of course had to make it into a beauty contest which I admit would have done too when I was in the fifth or sixth grade. But it was the little kids that were so adorable. The kindergardners and the first graders who are still mostly innocent wore their pajamas that are the straight fit with the planes or cars printed all over them. The girls had the princess outfits going like Tinkerbell. It was very precious and once again made me want to be a kid.

growing up

I can not believe that it is already April. I feel like we have just started second semester. The month of March flew by and now graduation for many of my friends is approaching. I have an extra semster left so I don't have to worry as much as my friends do to figure out what to do. I have been internship hunting and am starting to give up on that fact. The real world is right around the corner for many and not too long till I am in this situation. My one roommate has emailed company after company looking for leads on getting a job. I am not looking forward to putting in hours upon huors looking for a job. I envy those who at least know what they are going to do for a career. Like going into teaching most likely going to be a teacher. I have no clue what I want to do. I hope that this is completely normal. I am a person that likes to have a grasp about what is going on. I usually have a plan of what I am going to do. My plan so far is to get a job like everyone else nothing more than that. My favorite quote to go by is "everything happens for a reason." Everything will work out.

love verde

So on friday night after much talk of where to go out that night we decided to go to Verde. My roommate Monique had been there once before and really liked it. So we decided to give it a try. Loved it. There were not a lot of people there. I am talking about 20 which was actually nice b/c you could have a conversation with the people you are with without having to scream at one another. The drinks there were really good. And as weird as this may sound the bathrooms were really nice. After being in Mexico and spending the last two summers in countries where the traditional bathrooms are holes in the ground. I have learned to appreciate clean bathrooms. The other nice thing is that Verde is a 21 bar which I am becoming fond of at times. They also have couches which may seem a little strange for a bar but to me they were nice and comfy. It was a great time.

got to love ice cream

SO i have decided that ice cream is the best comfort food ever. I can be in the worst mood and have a bite of ice cream and be OH so happy. This week I have been rather busy putting in about 8 hours of homework a day the last couple of days. Ice cream has been a great stress reliever. I bought Whiteys white chocolate raspberry the other day and wow so good. One of my all time favorites is mint chocolate chip. Got to love the ice cream!!!!

weekend events

Friday night was the chemistry bar crawl. In class we have been talking about this for quite some time and have been looking forward to hanging out outside the class room. Well needless to say Friday night we made up for some lost time. I had not been out in Iowa City for several weeks and thought it would be a good idea to make up for lost times needless to say that wasnt the best idea ever. But in all we had a great time and it was fun to be around people that I am around all day in a different setting.

Sunday I met my mom and sister shopping in Williamsburg. I was excited to see them since I hadnt seen them since before Spring break. My dad is on a business trip right now so it was a perfect time to plan a shopping trip. The three of us did some power shopping. I was bummed that the Gap outlet didnt have anything to offer b/c i cant resist their sweatpants addicted to them. I also found a suit since very soon I do have to grow up. But to my luck they didnt have my size so I guess I can put off growing up for a little longer.
Greys Anatomy was a rerun on Sunday and that was rather disappointing. My roommate and I were looking forward to this all day. Well that is a lie all weekend.

I wish that I was still on Spring break. This last couple of days I am having the hardest time motivating myself to do anything. It doesnt help that I have a cold along with everyone else that I travelled with. If the weather was nicer it would be a lot easier to get back into the routine of school and work.
One thing that has been fun this week is putting up pictures from break and looking at everyones pictures. Some guys that we met down in Cabo have been emailing me wanting to get pictures that I had taken. I love meeting people from all over and keeping in touch with them. These guys were from USC and I informed them that they haven't been tailgating till they have been to an Iowa tailgate. I think that they gave up on trying to win the argument and just let me win.

Here are some pictures of me from spring break. The one where I am hanging upside down is from a bar called the giggling marlin. they hang you upside down and make you drink shots!!! it was tons of fun and we made everyone we met do it

spring break!!!

Well lets see if this works this time. Yesterday I got done writing about my whole spring break and then my internet stopped working. Wasn't too happy about it. Well to start the week before spring break was not fun. I was super busy which could be a blessing in disguise b/c then i didnt have time to think about spring break till thursday night.
In the middle of friday night my roommate kelsey and I drove to Chicago so that we could catch our 7 am flight. Needless to say there was no traffic so the drive wasnt too bad minus the fact it was in the middle of the night. We stayed in the city San Jose which is a 30 taxi ride away from Cabo. So we got to hotel and waited for the rest of our group to arrive. Well we waited forever. Our friends decided in Dallas to take $800 worth of vochures and a free night hotel. They couldnt get ahold of us b/c our phones didnt work. So we went out in San Jose and got home to their message.
The next couple of days we layed out at the pool and beach which was extremely relaxing. At night we grabbed dinner before heading into Cabo for the night. WE had to take a bus into cabo but on the way home we had to take a taxi which got expensive. The bars there were fun and filled with people that were in college. LAst year in Cancun there was a bunch of people from high school there and that got really annoying.
One of the hightlights of my trip was that one of my best friends from Japan that I had met two summers ago was also in Cabo. She is from Washington and I hadnt seen her since. I randomly ran into her twice while out in Cabo. Both times I freaked out b/c I was so excited to see her and she started to cry the first time. Friday the last day that we were both there one of my friends and my friend from japan and her friend went to a beach together. It was really pretty and the waves were huge. They knocked us over and would send us into the sand. It provided good humor.
Overall I had a great trip came back tan.

catching up

This week is like every week in that I have so much to do and so little time to do it. I've been trying to get ready for spring break. I have been tanning I admit it. I don't want to burn when I got to Cabo so I handover the credit card and buy minutes. Last year I went to Cancun and had tanned a few times before I went. Well my entire body peeled off as soon as I got home so I am trying to prevent this.
Last night I went out to dinner with two girls from work. One of my friends Lori used to work at the Before and After School program that I work at and we try to stay caught up with one another. So Ashley another girl that I work with, Lori, and I went to dinner at Wig Pen. I think that is how you spell it not really sure. It was a lot of fun updating Lori about everything that has been going on at work home and what not. The pizza there is so delicious. We had the flying tomatoe pizza. The three of us sat and talked about millions of topics for two hours. This was the most relaxing part of my day not worrying about anything but the telling Lori everything. The best was telling her about the kids that we work with and how some of them have changed not for the best reasons. Its amazing how people can change after only a year.
Countdown till springbreak 1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

nice relaxing weekend

I had a great weekend consisting of relaxing and being stress free for the weekend. If you haven't noticed I stress out about almost everything its something that I can't help. So this weekend to cure the stress I went home to relax and I accomplished it. I caught up on PEOPLE magazine one of the best magazines ever I won't lie. Went shopping and acted like I have money to spend before springbreak!!! I got to hangout with my sister which was a nice surprise. I didn't think that she was going to be able to come home and she came home on saturday night. I watched the Hawks play a great game on Saturday. I was so excited to see them win at home and keep the undefeated record to home. Although my heart did start to race when Brunner went down but was relieved to see him come back out. My dad and I went out to dinner at Club Car which is a great restraunt that most people don't know about.
Sunday was a day of blonde moments for me but I didn't let them get the best of me. To start off my sister and I had done a little homework while watching season 2 of the OC on Saturday night. I borrowed her folder to write on and I realized late Sunday morning that I still had it even though my sister and mom were already in Ames. Luckily I resolved this by meeting my sister in Ankeny at Culvers and we had a lunch date including ice cream.
My other blonde moment was that one of the reasons that I needed to go home was to get a suitcase for springbreak. Did I remember to bring one back?? Nope I totally forgot till I got 3/4 of the way there. Luckily again my roommate has a huge duffle bag that she is going to let me use!!! Oops
Count down till springbreak and no homework for a week: 5 days!!!!!!!!!!!

home sweet home

Well I am currently at work playing with kids for 4 hours. So far I have made breakfast, watched them play games, made cupcakes, and now playing on the computer. Not a bad morning if you ask me. I usually only work for a couple of hours in the morning but today they dont have school. Now the kicker will be if I make it to my 11:30. I know that I am going to want to take a nap when I get home. I have lab today which is 4 hours long and I am praying that I get out on time. On Tuesday I was there for 5 hours it was a little too long for me.
I am going home this weekend. I haven't been home since the beginning of January. I am going to go shopping and watch the Hawkeyes win another game. I am supposed to work till ten on friday night. However there is a slight chance that I wont have to. I hope that I can get off early and make it home sooner!!!!

saturday night

My friends and I went to Airliner on Saturday to watch the game. We were seated kinda far away from the TVs so I really couldnt see the game. But from what I could see of the game it was no good. Oh well Illinois had it coming for us anyway since we beat them bad here and they lost earlier in the week. It was a fun social event to me that lead me to Atlas and Martinis.
Countdown till Springbreak....11 days till CABO!!!!!!!!!!

INTERNSHIP FAIR

This week was crazy. I was a little too overwhelmed needless to say by school, work, and having to run home for a doctor's appointment in the middle of the week. I attended a Health and Science Fair on Wednesday. There were about six companies that attended so it was rather small. It was one of those things that I didn't really want to go but I knew that I needed to go if I ever want to get experience with chemistry. Fortunately, there was a company there that was similar to what I want to do. I want to work for a pharmaceutical company and help new drugs get past by the FDA. The company that was at the Internship Fair was a food company that works on coming up with new products. So overall, the internship fair was worth going to.
Cant wait to watch the Basketball game tomorrow night!! These last couple of days have been so cold that once I get home I don't want to leave b/c its so cold. I ask myself why do I live somewhere so cold and why don't I ever get used to this. I don't think that we can get use to it. I only hope for warmer weather and soon Spring break is going to be here!!!! I cant wait for Spring Break.
Today I got to see the movie Curious George at work. Im a sucker for animated movies so I thought it was cute. One of the little girls goes to the program that I work at managed to be scared during the movie. She sat on my lap for most of the movie. Not really sure how the movie was scary but I am also not 8.

i survived

I survived a long day yesterday. I had a test in the morning that wasn't as bad as I had anticipated. Then I went to work for the next ten hours of the day. I managed to still remember how to ice skate and to not fall. Very proud of myself. The kids wanted to hang onto my hand but I wasn't quite ready for that. Then I got to eat lots of pizza last night for dinner which always puts me in a good mood and watched movies with 11 kids. I was completely exhausted by the time work was over. Luckily yesterday Grey's Anatomy season one came in the mail yesterday. So to end a long day my roomie and I watched a couple of episodes.

Let it SNOW a little

yikes some how school has crept up on me and I have tons of stuff going on. In the next week I have 5 assignments due and a test. To add to that I am working ten hours on Friday right after my test. The school program I work for has a no school day and we are taking the kids ice skating. Oh this is will be an adventure for me. I havent ice skated since about the 7th grade and I never mastered the skill. But on the bright side that night I get paid to eat pizza and watch kid movies with cute kids.
Last nights basketball game was awesome. This season has been so much fun to watch. The team really pulled it together which was perfect for Valentines Day. I was a little nervous when Michigan State started to make a comeback. Tomorrow I am praying for a little bad weather so that I dont have to work at 7 am. I would love to be able to sleep in tomorrow.
I love getting Valentines. Even though I dont have a boyfriend I enjoyed Valentines Day yesterday. My dad sent me flowers which are beautiful and both of my Grandmas sent me cards with a little money so that I could have a little treat. So cute!!! Well off to study some more analytical and crossing my fingers that I dont have to work tomorrow morning!!!

what to do??

Where has the time gone?? I can't believe that it is already week 5 of school. I thought that first semester flew by because of football season but somehow the first part of second semester is flying by as well. Soon spring break is going to be here and I will be enjoying the beautiful weather in Cabo San Lucas. Very excited another city that I have always wanted to go to.
Tonight at work I about had a panic attack because I had to close the elementary that I work at. Well one of the lights wouldnt turn off in the gym. I always have problems with this darn light. I tried getting ahold of my boss but had no luck. Oh well there was nothing that I could do I tried getting it for 15 minutes.
ps. I love it. I officially eat lunch there on Tuesday and Thursdays. The food I think is a lot better than downstairs. It has more variety at least and its convenient. Two of other roommates and I have the same break so instead of going home and finding something to eat and leaving ten minutes later the River Room has become my best friend. Usually I get either a chicken salad sandwich or splurge and get a cheeseburger and fries. Either way I cant go wrong.

The Grammy's Last night were great. I love watching all the performances that they have and the different combinations that they come up with for people singing together. THe tribute last night was my favorite followed by Jamie Foxx and Kanye performing Gold Digger. I had planned on doing some homework and going to bed early and none of that happened. When the alarm went off this morning at 630 for work it was rather brutle. But worth staying up and watching the Grammys.

Cant wait for the weekend. As is most girls that I know. I cant wait for season one to come out on DVD on Valentines Day. It doesn't help the Patrick Dempsey is on it the Dr. McDreamy. I am still in shock of the Sunday night episode and can not wait till next Sunday. I am willing to admit that I do plan my schedule of getting caught up on school work around Grey's Anatomy. Prime example the Super Bowl. Only watched a little bit of it so that I could study for my physical chemistry test which I had to today. SO that I could not feel one bit guilty about watching Grey's Anatomy. I am very excited for tomorrow. My parents are coming up from Des Moines and we are going to the basketball game. I am embarrassed to say this but I have never been to one at Carver nor has my dad. Which is weird because I am a huge sports fanatic and love watching the games. Its been a long week with school looking forward to seeing my family and going to the game!!!

gym II

I find it very interesting that while I am at the gym trying to get back into shape I find my self watching all the food commercials. Everyone including me wants to start out the year loosing weight and trying to work off all the holiday weight that they put on. I work out at Fitness East which is close to all my classes and where I live. Yesterday while I was at the gym there was a line for the treadmills and the elipictal machines. The first week of school the gym was so busy I walked in and right back out. I am really hoping that soon the craziness of gym dies down.

weekend events

Dollar you call it on Friday nights is such a great deal. Saturday nights are so much more expensive then any other night of the week. I went to Airliner for dollar you call it. It was a great time not too crowded where you have to wait forever to get a drink but enough so that you are not the only people in the bar. Saturday my sister was in town. I love it when younger siblings are old enough to actually hangout with you at college. We had a great time hanging out, shopping, and going out, and running in the rain last night. I dont live that far from downtown but it was raining way to hard for me. Luckily I got a ride both times. Overall a great weekend.

american idol

American Idol is one of the funniest shows that I have encountered. I work at a Before and After School Program in Coralville. After eating dinner at Diamond Daves we made our way to Brothers. I love going to Brothers but Friday was one of the most strange experiences ever. The most strange was when a older guy in a nice suit approached my friends and I and asked for our ring size. We kinda looked at him like he was crazy. In his pockets were boxes of rings that were different sizes. Pretty much he was trying to take advantage of drunk people.

school is already stressing me out

I know it is going to be a long semester when I already am stressed out by school.
